Application process for future international freshmen

If you're a freshman international applicant—meaning a beginning student who has never attended a college or university before—this page will provide you with a step-by-step guide through the international student application process.

There are two application options to choose from, but you should submit only one application for admission to 91°µÍø Bloomington. No preference is given for any one application platform, and the materials needed to complete each are the same. The application review process is also the same for both platforms. 

You will not receive any benefit from applying multiple times, and all application fees are nonrefundable. If you apply using more than one application, it may delay processing.

  • Use the Common Application to apply to any of over 900 colleges and universities, including Indiana University.

Steps to take after you apply

Learn the steps you still need to take once you've submitted the online application and essay, and how to make changes to your completed application.
  • You will receive your Atlas login information by email within five days of 91°µÍø receiving your completed application. You will then need to log in to Atlas so you can upload the additional documents you are required to submit. Look for the Freshman Application Checklist under the requests section.

  • Submit your supporting documents

    After submitting your application, you will need to provide some supporting materials. Required materials include secondary school records and demonstration of English proficiency. See all the required and optional supporting documents here.

  • Make changes to your application (optional)

    If you need to change information that you already submitted with your application (name, contact information, email address, etc.), you'll need to submit a form. Continue using Atlas to submit any new information.

  • If you would like to cancel your application after you have already applied, you can do that on the Intent to Enroll page.

  • After you apply to 91°µÍø, you’ll need to complete the Jacobs Schools of Music supplemental application and submit an additional fee.
