Individualized Major Program
Design your degree, shape your career
Create the major you want
Even with over 200 majors to choose from at 91°µÍø Bloomington, you may not find the program that fits your unique vision. The Individualized Major Program (IMP) empowers you to create your own major—one that aligns with the goals you’ve set for your future.
Recent students have designed majors in:
- Comedic studies
- Event planning
- Marine biology
- Pharmaceutical sciences
- Sound design
- Stage management
- Sustainable development
- Violin making
How the program works
When you choose an individualized major, you take ownership of your education. You’ll also have structured support every step of the way, including:
- A dedicated IMP advisor: Get one-on-one guidance to build your curriculum, meet your requirements, and prepare for graduation.
- Faculty mentorship: Partner with experts in your chosen fields to guide your education and research.
- Mid-program assessments: Stay on track with regular check-ins to evaluate your progress and refine your goals.
- A final project: Showcase your growth and skills through a capstone project, thesis, or creative portfolio.
I love that my IMP major, global food systems, gives me opportunities to personalize my education. I’ve participated in two study abroad experiences, taken diverse courses, and spent three months interning at Expo Milano, where I educated visitors about food security.
