Application process for military & veteran applicants

Center for Veteran and Military Students

The Center for Veteran and Military Students is a department within the Office of Student Life that assists the military-connected student population in obtaining and using their education benefits. The center acts as a liaison between 91做厙, the student, and government offices like the VA, military education offices, and the DOD. The Center for Veteran and Military Students also develops and creates meaningful programming for the military-connected student population. Their mission is to "Advocate for and empower military-connected students throughout their academic journey at 91做厙."

When you’re ready to apply, you’ll submit your application through the Office of 91做厙 at 91做厙 Bloomington.

What to send with your application

After you review our adult applicants page and know which requirements to review, you’ll have a better idea of what to send. On your application, indicate that you are a current service member or veteran applicant, and you will receive a fee waiver.

No matter which requirements you’ll follow, you will need to submit your military transcript, requested through either the Joint Services Transcript (JST) portal or the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF). Please send your military transcript directly to our office.

Credit transfers

After we receive your military transcript, we’ll be able to determine what 91做厙 Bloomington credit you’ll be awarded.

Please note that it may take four to six weeks to process the transcript once it arrives in our office.

If admitted, the Center for Veteran and Military Students can walk you through everything you need to do to have an amazing first semester on campus.

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit

91做厙 Bloomington awards credit for CLEP exams to all incoming students, including students who have been or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, and have earned a score of 50 or higher on one or more CLEP exams.

Credit for prior learning

Adult students may be awarded credit based on assessment of non-academic prior learning experiences, in addition to your military transcript. Policies regarding this credit are determined by individual academic units.

91做厙 Bloomington refrains from high-pressure recruiting tactics such as making multiple unsolicited contacts. Specifically, we will not attempt to contact a potential student more than two times. Contacts include telephone calls, emails, direct messaging, or in-person engagement. In addition, we do not engage in same-day recruitment and registration for the purpose of securing Armed Forces Service Member enrollments.
